Mac: only my voice, not the interviewer
You’ll see System audio needs Screen Recording permission — capturing microphone only.
- 1
Click Grant access in that message.
- 2
In System Settings, turn on both MeetAssist toggles (Screen & System Audio Recording).
- 3
Click Restart MeetAssist.
Tip
macOS 12 and older can’t share system audio with apps; there MeetAssist hears only your microphone.
Desktop app: my microphone isn’t heard
The toolbar shows Grant mic and a red dot next to Mic. Click Grant mic and allow the microphone. Until then, MeetAssist keeps hearing the interviewer.
On Windows you can also check Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone.
Windows: no interviewer sound
If you see Could not capture system audio — capturing microphone only, click Retry. Under Audio in the toolbar, try Auto — Recommended or pick the device your call plays through.
Chrome extension hears nothing
Opened on the wrong page
Open MeetAssist on the meeting tab itself, after you’ve joined the call. Not on a lobby or “join” page, and not on another tab. If you see Sound is coming from…, click Go to that tab.
Tab audio not shared
When Chrome asks what to share, pick the meeting tab and keep Share tab audio on. You can switch Audio in the toolbar between Tab Audio and Screen Share.
“Microphone is blocked”
Click Open settings in the message and allow the microphone. Or click the lock icon in Chrome’s address bar → Microphone → Allow, then reload.
The call is in the Zoom or Teams app
The extension only hears Chrome tabs. Join in the browser, or use the desktop app, which hears any app.
Garbled transcript
Set Language to the language actually spoken. You can change it with Lang in the toolbar during the call.
Headphones
They work. MeetAssist hears your microphone as you and the computer’s sound as the interviewer. The simplest setup: headphones for sound, your computer’s built-in microphone for your voice.
